Football sensation, Lionel Messi, has reportedly opted to part ways with his Spanish club, FC Barcelona this summer.
This follows the Spanish football giant’s disastrous and humiliating defeat by Bayern München which ousted them from the Champions League.
Messi’s contract is due to end in 2021, but it seems his mind is set to leave now rather than later.
The Catalan giants were kicked out of the quarterfinal stage of the Champions League competition in Lisbon, as they were hammered 8 goals against 2.
The humiliating defeat of Barcelona has raised eyebrows, as many question Messi’s abilities, saying he failed to influence the game positively.
Meanwhile, as the team isolates itself in frustration, reports say Manchester City believe that they are best placed to sign the Argentina star.
“This would be the perfect week to put a bid in for the 33-year-old Argentinian and I could easily see him playing in Manchester – at either United or City,” football pundit, Graeme Souness predicted.
Fans and football lovers are keen to see what Merci’s future might look like in another club, if he eventually pulls through with his plans to quit Barça.
