The sexiest nationalities in the world have been ranked in a new survey which revealed where on the planet one can find “the most beautiful people.”
The survey, which listed 50 nationalities, was conducted by Big 7 Travel, an international digital platform focusing on travel, food and hotels.
“We surveyed a sample of our 1.5 million social audience to get an insight into where you’ll find the world’s most beautiful people,” the travel site said.
It explained that survey respondents were given no further specifications of the term ‘sexy’, so interpretation of the word was up to them.
Ukrainians took the first place, while the Irish were in the last spot. “While beauty may be only skin deep, it’s probably little consolation to the unlucky countries that have been voted as the least sexy in the world. Sorry, Ireland,” Big 7 Travel said.
In Africa, some countries were, of course, sexier than others. The following countries hold the top sexiest:
South Africa
South Africa was best ranked in Africa taking the 6th place in the world. Big 7 said recognisable Scouth Africans included Trevor Noah, Charlize Theron and Elon Musk.
“SA is a wonderful melting pot of cultures, making it a beautifully diverse and sexy place to be,” the survey said. Some of the most Instagrammable spots in Cape Town highlighted by the travel site were the Diving Board rock on Table Mountain, the luxurious Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel, and Bo-Kaap, a distinct neighbourhood with “pastel-hued buildings, rainbow houses and vintage cars” that make it a beauty photo snapping spot.
Kenya
The East African nation was ranked the second sexiest nationality on the continent and 14th in the world. Some famous faces mentioned in the survey were Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o, who is always a vision both on and off the red carpet and 800m Olympic Champion David Rudisha. Some of the Instagrammable spots mentioned were the Giraffe Manor, Ngong Hills, and Thomson’s Falls.

Taking the 29th position worldwide, Nigeria was ranked third sexiest on the continent with rappers Taio Cruz and Tinie Tempeh being mentioned as some of the recognizable faces. Some of the best Instagrammable spots for the perfect photo were the Lekki Market, Matsirga Waterfalls, Kajuru Castle, and Idanre Hills.
Morocco
French Montana’s viral hip-hop video has a lot to answer for when it comes to Morocco’s sex appeal, the survey results noted. Morocco ranked fourth sexiest in Africa, taking the 35th position worldwide. Apart from Montana, actor Jean Reno was mentioned as one of the most famous faces. For those who want incredible bright colours of desert sand or monochrome mosaics, the following were some of the areas in Marrakech highlighted as the most Instagrammable spots: The Pink Roof Top, a hippie vegetarian restaurant; Riad Yasmine, a private boutique hotel; Marrakech Souks, the main market square, and Le Jardin Majorelle, a botanical garden and artist’s landscape garden.
Egypt
The legendary Cleopatra was clearly not top of people’s minds when scoring Egypt, the study said. Egyptian footballer Mohamed Salah was one of the recognizable faces from the country. Big 7 Travel highlighted some of the best Cairo Instagram spots for one to grab the perfect photo: Khan Al Khalili, which has beautiful shops and stalls, The Great Sphinx of Giza, City View from Cairo Tower, a mythical creature that has the body of a lion and the head of a human, and the Pyramids of Giza.
